SOLOMON CORDWELL BUENZ
Role: Interior and Visual designer, Furniture, Accessories, and Artwork customization
I collaborated with the senior designer to revamp the lobby from start - worked on the concept development - attended client meeting, worked on FFE and gave a client presentation, designed unique custom pieces (custom rugs) and presented to the clients for approval - helped the mural artist achieve the colors required - worked with the consultants and vendor until the project was installed. Worked on Design RFI with direction from the senior designer.
Concept - We worked on the design understanding the needs of the client and understanding the requirement of the space. The design evolved from our early concept of concentric cubes - we had to create a design that allowed the space to be utilized in multiple ways catering to events like lunch conferences, talk shows, events, etc. The design allows timelessness and flexibility.
Square - Warmth - Noise Control - Privacy - Color
We collaborated with Northwoods to customize the benches that provide privacy at the same time let the light passes through. Luxx Box and Yellow goat designs worked with us to customize the acoustical fixture and the light fixture for the project. The felt and wood solve the issue of echo within the widespread lobby space. We designed the custom rugs and collaborated with the Rug company to develop the customized vibrant rug for the space. We had to work with the artist provide him direction on color to match the colors of the rugs and furniture upholstery. The furniture upholstery was originated from the center rug and was contrasted with the rug it was laid on.
